Activities, experiences and accommodation

Kotatieva Resort is a unique winter destination located just 10 km from Rovaniemi city centre, surrounded by the peaceful forests of Finnish Lapland.

Kotatieva combines a Winter Leisure Park, cosy cabin accommodation, an atmospheric log restaurant and authentic Lapland experiences in one place.

At the heart of the resort is the original forest skating experience in Lapland, where the ice trail winds through the silent Arctic forest. Visitors can also enjoy sledding, snowshoeing, winter games and other outdoor activities at their own pace.

Guests can meet our reindeer, and book a traditional reindeer sleigh ride. Other experiences include private Santa encounters, Aurora Hunting, guided winter activities and a traditional Finnish sauna with an outdoor hot tub.

Come for a day of winter fun, enjoy dinner at Restaurant Kotatieva, or stay overnight in one of our comfortable cabins surrounded by Arctic nature.

Aurora Skating – Open Event

Experience a magical evening ice skating in the snowy forests of Lapland, just 10 km from Rovaniemi city centre. Glide along our lantern-lit forest ice trail surrounded by peaceful Arctic nature, stars and moonlight – and if conditions are right, you may even see the northern lights dancing above.

Aurora Skating is an open event shared with other guests and is suitable for all skill levels. Ice skates, helmets, headlamps and skating supports for beginners are included.

Aurora Skating is available daily from 18.00 to 20.00.

Make your evening even more special by adding dinner at Restaurant Kotatieva, a private traditional Finnish sauna and outdoor hot tub, or transportation.

If you prefer to enjoy the experience privately with your own group, private events are also available.
