Free

Suomenlinna Sea Fortress is a Unesco World Heritage Site located on the coast of Helsinki. Built over a period of three centuries, Suomenlinna is nowadays a unique residential district of Helsinki and a popular visitor destination.

Suomenlinna was shaped by three historic eras when it helped to defend first Sweden, then Russia and ultimately Finland. There are six kilometres of walls, 100 cannons, exciting tunnels, and beautiful parks. There are also museums, guided tours, events, and restaurants in Suomenlinna.

The fortress is a great place to visit all year round. The ferry runs daily and is part of the public transportation system of Helsinki and the 15-minute sea trip is a wonderful opportunity to admire the city from the sea. There is no entrance fee to Suomenlinna.
