Tell me more about Finnish Lakeland

Lakeland is Europe's largest lake district, covering much of eastern and central Finland. With over 188,000 lakes scattered among dense pine and birch forests, water and woodland form an intricate mosaic that defines the heart of the country. Traditional wooden cottages, smoke saunas, and island-dotted horizons are standard features, while historic towns, medieval castles, and thriving local food cultures add depth beyond the natural scenery. The region is also rich in culture from iconic Alvar Aalto architecture to vibrant summer festivals and museums celebrating Finnish history.

Whether you're after outdoor activities, authentic traditions, or simply a place where you're never more than a stone's throw from the nearest lake, Finnish Lakeland delivers what it promises.

Lakeland is Finland at it’s most romantic, offering the same vistas that have inspired Finnish artists for centuries. It's a unique combination of hills, ridges, lakes and forests as far as the eye can see.
