From unique saunas to eco-friendly treatments

You're most likely familiar with the Finnish sauna, but Finland's wellness scene goes well beyond the simple wooden steam room by the lake. The country is home to some genuinely outstanding luxury spas and spa hotels, many of them set right in nature, with eco-friendly treatments, forest views and that particular Finnish talent for making relaxation feel effortless. From a chic city spa in a 19th-century Helsinki building to an Arctic retreat beside Urho Kekkonen National Park in Lapland, the range is broader than you might expect.

We've put together this list of twelve standout experiences from across the country. Most spas are connected to hotels, so you can make a proper occasion of it: stay the night (or two), slow down, and let Finland do its thing.
